Naomi Kritzer

Naomi Kritzer has been writing science fiction and fantasy for twenty years. Her 2019 YA novel CATFISHING ON CATNET won the 2020 Edgar Award and Minnesota Book Award for Best YA and is a finalist for the Andre Norton Award, the ITW Thriller Award, and the Lodestar Award. She lives in St. Paul, Minnesota with her spouse, two kids, and four cats. The number of cats is subject to change without notice.

Many people have been trained to use a very specific model of writing critiques, but modern times call for modern methods. We’ve come a long way from the Milford model of writing critique. This panel will discuss different critique group formats that are more inclusive and more effective as well as providing techniques and suggestions for giving and receiving better critique feedback.

Endings leave the reader with something — a feeling, a question, or an idea. How do you close your story so that you leave the lasting impact of your words on the reader? How much resolution is necessary? How much space past the climax is a good barometer for a proper cool-down?
