James Sturz
James Sturz is the author of the novels UNDERJUNGLE, a tale of love, loss, family, and war, set entirely underwater (a 2023 Foreword INDIES Finalist for Adult Fiction Fantasy), and SASSO, a literary thriller set in the cave homes of Basilicata, Italy. He has contributed to more than 90 publications in the U.S. and abroad, including The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Outside, Men’s Journal, Coastal Living, National Geographic Adventure, The New Republic, Afar, Saveur, The New Republic, Travel + Leisure, and New York magazine. His work has been anthologized in ITALY: THE BEST TRAVEL WRITING FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES and BEST FOOD WRITING, been published in 18 countries, translated into nine languages, and used as course materials by the psychology and sociology departments of the University of Wisconsin, Santa Barbara City College and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition to writing, Sturz is a PADI Divemaster, ice diver, free diver, and an Explorers Club fellow. He lives in Hawaii and New York.
