We’ll discuss cultivating a core readership and expanding into selling audio direct and Kickstarter, as well as focusing on the next new release with an eye to building your backlist. Learning about what makes for good disability representation (and what to avoid) allows for a wider range of stories, experiences, and opportunities for your world and the people in it. Celia Lake will discuss the diversity of disability experiences, how to avoid common problems, and resources for learning more about specific conditions or experiences. Bring your questions!

The SFWA Comics Committee invites all members interested in comics to a virtual meetup. The meet-up will include a 30-minute presentation by Ben Wilgus — a freelance editor for First Second Books, as well as a writer of graphic novels such as Grace Needs Space and The Mars Challenge — on the topic of how large traditional publishing houses work with cartoonists and comics writers to bring their books to life. The second 30 minutes is for discussion and to provide our comics writers a chance to get acquainted with colleagues in the field.
