The SFWA Poetry Committee presents its Quarterly Poetry Open-Mic. Come and read your poetry to your fellow SFWA poets. This is an interactive online event hosted by Poetry Committee’s co-chair Wendy Van Camp. The October Open-Mic will be Halloween themed, so bring your ghoulish poetry! Costumes are encouraged, but optional.

Our featured reader will be Sumiko Saulson, a Bram Stoker Award® and Elgin Nominated author of “The Rat King: A Book of Dark Poetry.” They are a Ladies of Horror Readers’ Choice Award and Afrosurrealist Writers Award winner.

Publishing Taught Me: Our Inclusive Community

Emily Jiang, Kanishk Tantia, James Beamon, and Nelly Geraldine García Rosas talk about the essays they contributed to the Publishing Taught Me anthology with its chief editor, Nisi Shawl. The conversation will also cover the anthology’s entire scope and how the ideas of inclusiveness and diversity leave their mark on our genre, their lives, and our community as a whole.

This is an interactive online event hosted by Poetry Committee co-chair Wendy Van Camp. Our featured poet for January is Sultana Raza. Her work has appeared in “Abyss & Apex”, “Star*line”, and “Silver Blade”, with a story forthcoming in Flame Tree Publishing’s “Achilles Anthology”. An independent scholar and accomplished poet, Sultana has presented on Keats and Tolkien at international conferences and read her work across Europe and the U.S. Her writing blends vivid imagination with deep literary insight.
